چکیده

Providing a distributed cooperative environment is a challenging task, which requires a middleware infrastructure that provides, among others, management of distributed shared data, synchronization, consistency, recovery, security and privacy support. In this paper, we present the ECADeG project which proposes a layered architecture for developing distributed cooperative environments running on top of a desktop grid middleware that can encompass multiple organizations. We also present a particular cooperative environment for supporting scientific research focused at the health domain which uses the services supplied by the ECADeG architecture in order to allow researchers to share access to multiple institutions databases, visualize and analyze data by means of data mining techniques, edit research documents cooperatively, exchange information through forums and chats, etc.. Such a rich cooperative environment helps thus the establishment of partnerships between health care professionals and their institutions.

Build grid-enabled large-scale collaboration environment in e-Learning grid

As a new branch of grid computing, e-Learning grid is emerging as a nationwide e-Learning infrastructure, which can provide innovative learning experience for learners. In such a grid environment, collaboration services will be the key elements due to the pervasive requirement for cooperative work and collaborative learning. Although there exist enormous research efforts on grid-based collabora...

WE-AMBLE: a Workflow Engine To Manage Awareness in Collaborative Grid Environments

Grid computing shares heterogeneous resources in dynamic service-based environments. This kind of system has the major advantage of enabling rapid composition of distributed applications. However, equilibrating the amount of work assigned to each of the nodes in a grid environment is a complex problem, even more so than for other kinds of parallel systems. In this paper, we present a new extens...

A New Job Scheduling in Data Grid Environment Based on Data and Computational Resource Availability

Data Grid is an infrastructure that controls huge amount of data files, and provides intensive computational resources across geographically distributed collaboration. The heterogeneity and geographic dispersion of grid resources and applications place some complex problems such as job scheduling. Most existing scheduling algorithms in Grids only focus on one kind of Grid jobs which can be data...

Dynamic Replication based on Firefly Algorithm in Data Grid

In data grid, using reservation is accepted to provide scheduling and service quality. Users need to have an access to the stored data in geographical environment, which can be solved by using replication, and an action taken to reach certainty. As a result, users are directed toward the nearest version to access information. The most important point is to know in which sites and distributed sy...

Model Predictive Control of Distributed Energy Resources with Predictive Set-Points for Grid-Connected Operation

This paper proposes an MPC - based (model predictive control) scheme to control active and reactive powers of DERs (distributed energy resources) in a grid - connected mode (either through a bus with its associated loads as a PCC (point of common coupling) or an MG (micro - grid)). DER may be a DG (distributed generation) or an ESS (energy storage system). In the proposed scheme, the set - poin...
